ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – The ruling Dominica Labour Party (DLP) was heading for a massive victory on Friday after it won 12 of the 15 seats declared so far by the Electoral Office.
Preliminary results show that the DLP had won the Mahaut, Morne Juane/Riviere Cyrique, Colihaut, Wesley, Paix Bouche, Salybia, Cottage, Portsmouth, Grandbay, Roseau North, Soufriere and Vielle Case, and was on course to win at least 16 of the 21 seats contested in the general election.
The main opposition United Workers Party (UWP) had been victorious in the La Plaine, Marigot and Salisbury constituencies, while the minority Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) was facing the prospect of failing to win a seat for the second consecutive general election.
